Verizon Sues Vonage: Does Vonage Scare Them?

Vonage has been sued for supposedly using technology patented by Verizon. However, I think this is more than fighting for patented technology. It is all about the market's shares. Verizon know[s] that a Vonage, with its cheap price, is taking big part of the homeland phone users in the USA. Verizon do not want to see their client going to Vonage.

We all know how expensive Verizon is. Now they are trying to make excuses to take competitive companies out of their way. Verizon is on his way down if they don't make a quick move. Thanks to the iPhone from Apple, Verizon will miss some of its wireless' users. But they do not want to see Vonage taking part of the rest of the market.

Let's see what comes at the end of this lawsuit, I hope Vonage win the case. I don't wanna see Verizon trying to keep its homeland monopoly. I don't wanna see another Micro$oft.

Sprint Coming With A New Phone: Upstage

Sprint now has a new phone to be released soon. It is the new Upstage from Samsung. It has a pretty cool design. It now uses the back of your phone as a screen. This new design is defined as "dual-side form-factor," this is how Sprint describe it.

The Upstage, as it is called, can be upgraded to a 2 GB MicroSD Memory Card. This feature will let you store about 2,000 songs. However, the standard memory has only 64MB. It also brings a USB cable to connect it to your computer. So that you can store your own music.

Something I also liked is the fact that the phone will able to get Bluetooth that allows you to listen to your music without being wired. That is pretty cool too. Keep visiting Geeks & Gadgets or go to Sprint.com to keep up to date with the latest news.

Hackin' Apple TV?

There is a page out there dedicated to hacking Apple's TV. It looks like this new Apple's Gadget has kind of OS inside. Appletvhacks.net can teach you how to hack the Apple new product. It also said to be put to work with the MacBook.

Did Apple design its TV to be hacked? That does not sound to make any kind of sense at all, somehow, but in the other hand it can be a good strategy. We should know that all products that are "hackable" or customizable, become very popular. And popularity is what they need with that new Apple TV.

Reasons To Switch From Internet Explorer To Firefox

Reasons To Switch From Internet Explorer To FireFox
FireFox every day got more surprised. It is a pretty good Internet browser, I would say the best. It is secure, useful and customizable. It is all geeks want, but you don't have to be a geek to use FireFox. It is pretty easy to use. I barely use Internet Explorer. Maybe I got tire of all the blue colors and insecurity it offers.

Things FireFox offers that Internet Explorer lacks.

Adds on: these allow you to customize your FireFox window to look the way you want. You can add some music player, themes-these are kind of backgrounds, feed reader, etc. They have everything you need there. Just visit the Adds-On page

Security: FireFox is way more secure than Internet explorer, even thought IE7 has made some improvement, it continues to be no so secure.

You can download FireFox from the top of this site if necessary.

Download And Convert Video From Youtube

From Youtube To Your Computer

On the Internet there are many sites that allow you to download and convert video from youtube, but none of them as vixy.net. It is no only the best, but also free. It allows you to convert youtube video to any popular format: Avi, iPod MP4, PSP video, cellphone video, etc.... It mean that there is a video from youtube you like, you can now have it on you computer or Mac.

Just imagine, having your own youtube library without the risk of the videos you like being removed. Youtube is the best and more popular video-site out there. So, it won't be a bad idea having you "faves" videos on the go on your laptop or iPod, also your PSP.

But what if you have the Mp3 player but not the video player? If you have an iPod nano or any kind of mp3 player, you can still enjoy some youtube contents. Some comedy from youtube are good to listen too. by going to Vixy.net, you will find a way to convert your favorite video, music video or comedy video to mp3 format. In this way you can store them on your iPod nano or CD player.

T-mobile, Sprint, Verizon or Cingular?

If you want to get into a 2 years contract, you should think it twice before doing it. Because if for some reason you wanna "break up" your contract, you will have to pay from 175-299 dollars.

T-mobile: is not that bad, it has nice looking phones, good costumer service, but the signal is not that good. And another thing I found out is that if you have a T-mobile cellphone and you owe them money and you loose your phone, you can't report it as stolen. They say you have to pay first before being able to report your phone.

Sprint: Lack phone variety. How many different cellphone has Sprint, like 3? Their catalog is not that great. They don't share the same market they did some years ago. They should be close to bankruptcy. They have good signal, much better than T-mobile I would say. One thing that have saved Sprint from going down is their Walkie-Talkies phone.

Verizon: It is kind of expensive. The minutes you get from T-mobile for $40 dollars are more than those you get from Verizon. Veryzon has good signal, but they are not the best in dropped calls. Nevertheless, the best phones are from Verizon. If you want a "smart-phone," that is the best company to go. But remember you have to spend a few $buck$.

Cingular- They are said to have the "least dropped calls," I don't know if that is true. But I know they are more expensive than T-mobile, but their signal is much better. They have a lot of nice phones. And if you want to get the iPhone, Cingular is the one company you should begging with. Because they are the exclusive retailer.

At the end you may pick another company, for example Altell or Amp'd. At first they are cheap, but once the conquest the market they stop being so affordable.

Blue Ray Disc Winning The Batle To HD DVD

The format "war" is beginning to take one direction, and it is going the Blue Ray's way. According to some sources, the Blue Ray is leading 2-1 against HD-DVD. Because of this statistics, some people may think it twice before buying a HD plaver. Since the beginning, Sony's blue showed its potential and capacity. Today it is the number one next gen format.

But the main focus these days is on the PS3 vs Xbox 360. Here is where the format war is really strong. However, HD DVD and Blue Ray Disc are not only for gaming, but also for movies. The winner so far is Sony's Blue Ray. But you never know, things may change, even thought I doubt they do.

Have You Heard About DARPA.

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is thinking about creating some thinking machines. Do you think it is possible? I read before about learning search results; for example the one planned for the wikipedia search engine.

I just heard about this, so it will be better if you do some research on google or wikipedia.

It has also been said that such machines or robot will substitute human in war combat. However, machines or robot are computers and they will somehow use some kind of internet via satellite. And when we talk about internet or any kind of similar connection, we are also talking about machines that will be targeted by hackers.

Just wonder if while in combat those machines are hacked and turned against them self and not against their "enemy." Or worse yet, against human that those machines are supposed to protect or fight for. That will be a really bad and chaotic situation. It all looks like some fantasy from a science fiction movie, and it may be. It is hard to believe, not to say impossible.

Black and White TVs After that, Color TVs. Cellphones Later iPhone

iPhone will "reinvent the phone technology. People were OK with black and white TVs, but now it is all about color TV. Apple's iPhone will give the competence a lot to think about. Palm, PDA, BlackBerry, etc... are in of "less wanted smart phones." They have to come with something new. iPhone may be cataloged as of the year 2020's smart phone.

Sidekick 4, if comes out, is going to have to drop its price. Why? nobody is going to pay US$400 for a sidekick 4 with possible few megabytes of memory when they can add US$100 and get a 4 Gig iPhone. We are the one who receive the benefits of good product when a competence is created. Apple's phone is what gonna push other companies to accelerate technology in their cellphones.

It means:
  1. No more 1.3 mega pix camera, it now has to be 3 and over if you wanna fight in the market.
  2. No more Motorola with their so popular Razr model, after that all Motorola's phone look the same as the first Razr.
  3. No more Blackberry with that small wheel that looks like those 80's TV. That is one thing I don't like about those Blackberry.
  4. Smarter phones from now over.

APPLE: TIME TO COPY FROM MICROSOFT

It is time for Apple to begin copying from Microsoft. Yes I know, Microsoft is the one supposed to copy, but this is about something different. Apple think they are going to become #1 by selling Macs only in the US. They have to go abroad, the same way Bill Gates is doing lately. Microsoft is promoting its products abroad. In this day, Gates is visiting some countries of Latino Speaking language. This is what Apple should do to become more popular with their Mac.

The problem with Apple is that "they design their Mac for a very specific group," graphic designers and people ready to spend over a thousand dollars. It will be better for Apple is they beging building ship computers. I don't mean to stop building the kind of computers they make, but to create a "cheap version of their Macs."

By building cheap computers, Apple may loose some money. However, in the long run they are possible going to earn more money and more public, just ask Sony why they are selling the PS3 cheaper than it really is. And also why did they build a cheaper and a more expensive version. Let's see what Steve Jobs has for the future of his company.

WHERE IS WINDOWS' VISTA "WOW?"

You may be asking the same question. You are not alone, many people are asking it too. Windows did not fulfill the expectations it was supposed to, it did not cause the "wow" as Microsoft's TV ads point out. Nevertheless, the products that came with this Vista's launch are pretty good; for example, Microsoft Office 2007. I took a look at Word '07 and it looks pretty good, More organized and user friendly that the past versions. Microsoft got there a A+.

Even thought Vista's did meet the expectation, maybe because maybe of its features were already in Macs, the product is still pretty good to look at. If you have a computer with 1Gig of RAM with a Core 2 Duo processor, you won't have any problem running the basics edition or premium version of Vista. However, 2 Gigs are recommended.

FROM GADGETS TO POLITICS

A Hillary's video is traveling youtube.com. It is a old Apple video, 1984 to be exactly that has been transformed into a campaign against Hillary Clinton from the Democratic party. It has been seen for more than 900,000 people. It is a big number when talking about ratings. Here is the video....

PS3: The Europe Launch

The Playstation 3 from Sony is in its way to Europe. March 22 is the date mentioned to be the day the PS3 launch becomes a reality in EU. It is just matter of time before people from there get their hands on the claimed powerful video game machine.

Is the price too high? when compared with the price in the US, the Playstation 3 looks to be more expensive in Europe. But it is said that the high price has to do with the trading and sale taxes that has to be paid in that country. And that sad thing is that electronic appliances from the US do not work in Europe. If that was not the case, people could have bought the PS3s from the United State since back in 2006.

Good luck to the Europeans with their upcoming PS3
